A month of morning magic

A month of morning magic

When we kicked off our annual Morning Magic campaign back in mid-November, we never could have anticipated all of the memorable moments that lay ahead. Over the past month, we’ve crisscrossed the city with our coffee pop-up, making #morningmagic and friends along the way. Best of all, we got a peek at how you, our Salt Spring Coffee community, likes to spend those special hours first thing in the day. Before we dive headfirst into the holidays, let’s take a quick look back at some of our favourite #morningmagic moments.

Morning Magic Tour

Our first stop was Plum Clothing in Kits, where LOCO BC and Vancouver Councillor Heather Deal were launching BC Buy Local Week 2015. We drank some Holiday Blend, browsed the racks and came away with some great #BCbuylocal holiday gift ideas.

From there, we packed up our Morning Magic ’Mobile and headed over to YEW Seafood + Bar for a private brewing session with Chef Ned Bell before work. He’s into farm-to-table dining and sustainable seafood, so we had lots to chat about.

Later that week, we teamed up with All-City Athletics on Glutes, Gloves & Gratitude. The crew skipped, lunged, squatted and one-two punched its way through a heart-pumping workout with Anna, then fuelled up for the day with coffee and Qi’a snack bars from Nature’s Path Organic Foods.

Early the next morning, we headed to YYoga Yaletown to surprise folks in the first YHot and Power classes of the day with a freshly brewed cup of Holiday Blend after practice—a bright spot in an otherwise rainy day.

Last but not least, we met up with Chef Jonathan Chovancek and Mixologist/Sommelier Lauren Mote at UVA Wine & Cocktail Bar to talk Chemex brewing and small-batch bitters over—you guessed it—mugs of our very own small-batch Holiday Blend.

Morning Magic Moments

Throughout the month, tons of you shared your favourite morning moments using the #morningmagic hashtag on Facebook, Twitter and especially Instagram. We learned that you love your coffee (no surprise there), your furry friends and the great outdoors (the #trulywestcoast spirit is alive and well).

Each week, we rewarded our favourite moment with a campfire mug and a bag of our limited-edition Holiday Blend coffee. It was a tough to choose just one each week—there were so many great entries—so we’ve gathered them all on Pinterest. See if you can spot yours!

During this busy time of the year, it’s more important than ever to take a few moments to savour the start of each day and make #morningmagic. From all of us at Salt Spring Coffee, here’s wishing you a happy (and magical) holiday season!
