Celebrate Local at Feast of Fields
Feast of Fields is an annual harvest festival and fundraising event for Farm Folk City Folk, a non-profit society in support of a local, sustainable food system. Their projects support farmers and engage their communities in the celebration of local food. The Feast was held in the Okanagan on August 18, and will also be held in 2 upcoming locations: Metro Vancouver on September 8 and Vancouver Island on September 22.
Salt Spring Coffee has partnered with Farm Folk City Folk in past years, and this year, we’ll also be at Feast of Fields, along with other community partners, such as Young Agrarians (also members of 1% for the Planet), SPUD, Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe, Choices Markets and more. The event brings together chefs, farmers, fishers, ranchers, food artisans, vintners, brewers and distillers from across the province. This year marks their 20th Anniversary, and Salt Spring Coffee has donated a great prize as part of the 20th Anniversary Raffle (free coffee subscription for a year).
The event promises to be one of gastronomic exploration, but it represents something more symbolic and meaningful. Working with Farm Folk City Folk and Feast of Fields aligns with our values here at Salt Spring Coffee and is an incredibly rewarding partnership. Our co-founders Mickey and Robbyn started out as hardworking organic farmers on Salt Spring Island, and supporting the local food economy is both part of our company’s origin and long-term vision.
For local foodies (and friends/family): we look forward to seeing you at Feast of Fields this year. Bon appetit!
