Get ready for RIPE 2016
On Sunday, October 16, Vancouverites can look forward to RIPE 2016, an annual harvest celebration of local food and drink in support of Vancouver Farmers Markets. Salt Spring Coffee will be there once again—this year, with a special cold brew cocktail.
Now in its seventh year, the RIPE Dinner brings together Vancouver’s top chefs and restaurants with fresh ingredients from favourite local farms and producers. From 5:30pm to 8:00pm, diners will have a chance to taste eight mouth-watering small plates, desserts, craft beverages from BC Wine Studio and Persephone Brewing Company, and signature cocktails by Gillespie’s Fine Spirits and yours truly.
Check out the stellar line-up in the kitchen this year:
- Chef Ned Bell of Chefs for Oceans
- Chef Shelome Bouvette of Chicha
- Chef Clement Chan of Torafuku
- Chef Quang Dang of West
- Chef Meeru Dhalwala of Vij’s Rangoli
- Chef Karen McAthy of Blue Heron Creamery
- Chef Ryan Reed of Nomad
- Chef Deniz Tarakcioglu of Café Medina
Hosted at the Exhibition Hall in the Roundhouse Community Centre, this family-friendly event will also feature live music, a silent auction and party games for kids of all ages. Hope to see you there!

Salt Spring Coffee & Vancouver Farmers Markets
A longtime fan of farmers and farmers markets, Salt Spring Coffee has been a proud supporter of RIPE for years. Proceeds from the event go to our very own Vancouver Farmers Markets, a local nonprofit that brings eight weekly markets to neighbourhoods across the city each year.
Right now, we’re also partnering with the Vancouver Farmers Market on an Edible Scavenger Hunt that celebrates local farmers and producers. You can learn more about your neighbourhood market and market vendors in our latest blog series.
