Mixing the Holidays
We count down the days during the year until Holiday Blend lands in our cup and we sip it through the season. But it’s not the only holiday drink we celebrate with at Salt Spring Coffee. Our baristas source the finest local and organic ingredients to mix with our Fair to Farmer coffees, creatively concocting spirited sips. Here are a few holiday drinks that perfect way to warm the hands (and soul) and greet the season. Visit us at our Tsawwassen cafe for a cozy drink with a holiday twist.
Birchwood Farms Eggnog Latte
This year, Tsawwassen cafe did not have to look far from home to find a rich and delicious eggnog to use in our eggnog lattes. Just an hour’s drive away from the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal is Birchwood Dairy Farm. This Abbotsford farm makes a simple, classic eggnog from milk produced by grass fed dairy cows. To create an eggnog latte, our baristas steam this eggnog with a touch of whole milk. We then pour the mixture over a double shot of Metta espresso and finish it off with a dusting of freshly grated nutmeg.
Mountain Mint Mocha
“The mountains are calling and I must go.” – John Muir
Sometimes a crisp, cool breeze is a good thing. It is refreshing and reviving. Tsawwassen Cafe’s Mountain Mint Mochas have caught a touch of that crisp winter wind. This year we have infused our classic mochas with organic mint tea from Namesthé Tea. The tea is made from wild mint and spearmint grown in the glacier fed floodplains of the Coast Mountain range in the Pemberton Valley, BC. The mint is subtle and slightly spicy, just enough of a kick to cut the richness of the chocolate and espresso. Its a perfect combination to keep you warm and cozy on the ferry ride to your holiday destination.
Spiced Citrus Cider
We are introducing a special cider recipe this year, crafted with a secret cold infusion technique. Our Spiced Citrus Cider will have you warm and toasty in no time. We start with Triple Jims Organic Royal Gala Apple Cider. It’s an all natural apple cider with nothing added, made in Chilliwack, BC. It has a perfect balance apple sweetness, slight orange tang, ginger warmth, rounded out with a hint of cinnamon. A great cure for winter chills.
