New MiiR Tumbler!
MiiR x Salt Spring Coffee
Artist Series
We partnered up with BC-based artist Oliver McPartlin in our new MiiR tumbler design. Coinciding with our cafe's return to the Salt Spring Island community, this illustration is aptly titled Home.
We fell in love with Oliver's intricate illustration style. There is endless detail to look at and discover. In this piece, Oliver created an expansive landscape combining iconic Canadian animals and sceneries. Weaving in real and surreal elements, this highly dynamic illustration is a feast for the eyes!
About the Artist
What is your preferred medium to create art?
I always seem to get the best results when I start with a pencil and paper, and move to digital once it’s all sketched out.
What inspires your art in general?
I think a lot of my work is about the friction between the natural and the man-made. Fluid and organic vs. ordered and mechanical. I find I’m often pairing geometric elements with more naturalistic, illustrative bits and creating contrasts there.
What was your inspiration behind the piece created for the tumbler?
I was mostly thinking about the West coast, and the vastness and immensity of the natural world, and humanity’s odd role in it.
