Why Your Morning Coffee Costs More Lately

Why Your Morning Coffee Costs More Lately

If you’ve noticed your coffee costs a little more these days, you’re not alone. Coffee prices have been on the rise across the industry, and we want to share some of the reasons why this is happening — and also explain why there's a positive side to it.

What is causing coffee prices to go up?

A few factors are responsible for the spike:

  • Climate change & global supply:
Coffee-growing regions, especially in Latin America where we source many of our beans, are facing unpredictable weather, droughts, and rising temperatures. These conditions make it harder to grow coffee, reducing yields and increasing costs for farmers.
  • Fair pay for farmers:
Coffee farmers are facing rising production costs, and fair prices are crucial for helping them maintain their livelihoods. By supporting ethical prices, we make sure that more of the money from your coffee directly supports the farmers who cultivate it. This allows them to cover their costs, invest in their farms and support their communities.
  • Rising production & shipping costs:
From sourcing to roasting to shipping, every step of the supply chain has become more expensive. Fuel prices, transportation costs, and labor shortages all play a role, and impact the entire coffee industry.

Investing in the future of coffee farmers

While price increases are challenging for everyone, there's one bright side to consider: Some of these dollars are going directly to the coffee farmers, who are better able to build a livelihood for themselves, their families, and their local communities. In the end, this creates a more sustainable coffee industry — one that values the farmers that grow our coffee.

We're grateful for your support over the years, and even more so during challenging times like these!
